Tres Minutos con la realidad
... the Trio Animę preserves the music's essential grittiness, driving through the jagged rhythms of Tres minutos con la realidad, for example, with a raw energy that rivals the blistering 1989 performance by Piazzolla's own Sexteto Nuevo Tango...Warmly recommended.
Gramophone, April 2002
With overwhelming lyricism and acute sensitivity, with nervous rhythm offset by a great tenderness in majestic cantabile movements, the Trio Animę has managed to impart a very romantic fever to these typical melodies. An ardent and moving interpretation, the classical formation’s homage to these “sad thoughts in dance form”…
Diapason november 2001 5/5 Diapasons
Amidst the many opportunistic offerings, this CD stands out as one of the most polished, and the benchmark in the piano-violin-cello formation.

A hit of a trio.
Le Nouvelliste 26th may 2001
Listening to the Trio Animę, one realizes how much this music deserves a place in the classical chamber repertoire.
La liberté, 7th june 2001
…Of the many “homages to Piazzolla”, the Trio Animę’s approach stands out.
“Coup de coeur”, 24 heures, 31st May 2001
The result is a real joy…It embodies the tango’s spirit, its nostalgia, its tenderness, its sensuality, insolence and pride.
Le Matin 27th May 2001
The accent here is not on lyrical languor. Their approach is full-bloodied, the energy level high. And the rhythmical power of this music between classicism and tango has direct impact.
Klassik-Tipp, Radiomagazin, June 2001
The three musicians have both the superb technique and the necessary feeling for Piazzolla’s music. Heard sitting on a flat stone by the river, in the moonlight.

Souls in the Dark
To these “souls in the dark” (Schnittke, Pärt, Vasks), the excellent Trio Animę offers its technical competence and its emotional power, rich in nuance and delicacy, brilliantly illustrating these inspired, magically throbbing works. Faithful reflections of our time.
Répertoire, november 2003
Souls in the dark: a contemporary and personal creation, strong and expressive. The Trio Animę has produced an essential recording.
Ph+ magazine suisse des arts, april/may 2004
The Trio Animę’s version of Vasks’ Trio is gaunt and unforgiving. An instant impact.

Fine reading of Pärts Mozart-Adagio and an interesting programme, recommended!

Rebirth of the piano trio…There are now signs that the drought is over, for example in the publications by the Trio Animae. Without blinkers, and with great gusto, they are breaking new ground, and their enthusiasm is infectious…The Trio Animę convinces throughout: This is the work not of technicians, but of emotionally inspired musicians of Dionysian drive.

There must be something.......
Complete Works for Piano Trio by Peter Breiner
Maybe it’s the weight of the orchestra, joining in and augmenting the musical lines, but …there must be something… is an impressive piece. Bold, unapologetic and inspired, but not derivative, it has in this superb live recording a potential to stir a longing and desire by the right means - the means of a composition confident in its strength and direction, unafraid to startle the listener, and sure in its grip. I’m happy to report that there is indeed “something” to Peter Breiner’s music. March 05, Thewholenote.com
Peter Breiner’s music is surprising and poignant. The Concerto for trio and orchestra, of impressive proportions, is terrific. Discover it quick!
Revue musicale de la Suisse Romande, september 2005
The premiere of Peter Breiner’s Triple Concerto was also linked to the Trio Animę: here their musical capacity for enthusiasm and experience were ideally suited to the composer’s particular qualities.

Listening pleasure
A piano trio by Donizetti ? Music by José Bragato, Percy Aldridge Grainger ? The Swiss Trio Animę presents a CD almost entirely devoted to premiere recordings… The ensemble combines these little gems - some of which they have arranged themselves - into a radio play, theatre for the ears, vivid listening pleasure. Great care has been lavished on these little musical pearls. The musicians’ virtuosic gifts are displayed to best advantage.
Musik und Theater, December 04
To be enjoyed without restraint! To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Trio Animę takes us on a marvelous journey. This is brilliant music which the “Basler” group has been given, has discovered or written in the most incongruous situations while on tour. Really good moments, guaranteed to relax and surprise, with no lack of tenderness or humour either.
Real fireworks which, once again, showcase this ensemble’s musical qualities. An ensemble capable of switching between repertoires, bouncing from seduction in very classical pages to the languorous works of Tango Argentino, while also flirting with contemporary compositions. A genuine pleasure to savour.
